Blue Screen Of Death…how do I solve this problem?

Registry Mechanic

first of all…I’ve just uninstalled Norton IS 2011 uninstalled successfully, then I installed AVG IS2012 …….after restart it goes blue with a long error message…..I

still have Kaspersky IS2010 but that one is off and no longer functionable….I left it there because I had the BSOD while uninstalling that last year….

Now I’m stuck….I cant install AVG Internet Security on my laptop….why could I install norton before?
I tried AVG forums giving the dump files/memory dump and msinfo. no reply from them yet…

could Kaspersky be the cause?

BEFORE:
I tried Kaspersky uninstaller which was given by them, still the same
tried perfect installer- still the same

Now:
- updated intel drivers and windows….still the same -> BSOD after installing AVG
did a registry scan…problems fixed…no more problems (registry mechanic)

downloaded perfect installer and driver update: (Because they say they can scan for errors causing BSOD for free) lots of errors found but there is a catch….WANT MORE MONEY!!

AVG installed perfectly well on this PC….but not on the laptop… it installs on the laptop but after restart the BSOD comes on!

can someone help me out?
And please no stupid answers……and telling me I should have had “another internet security software” it’s too late I bought this one….
@naro007: the error message is ndis.sys
thanks

It is interesting that you say that ndis.sys is reported as causing the error. ndis.sys, is a actually a software driver wrapper [part of windows] that enables the use of Windows drivers for network devices like PCI expansion cards, USB modems and routers on Linux only operating systems.

It should have no connection to any problems to do with the install and uninstall of the security products you specify. It is just further evidence that points to fact that your system has got screwed up [maybe as you didn't uninstall Kaspersky before installing new security software].
It is likely that you may have to back up your personal files and re-install windows

It sounds like it is the multiple security software that is causing the problem. Even though you say Kaspersky is not active, the fact that it is still installed and you had another functioning security suite, is probably causing the blue screen error. Neither Norton or AVG will install on a system that already has Kaspersky on it [even if it is not active]. The fact that you have managed to install Norton without uninstalling Kaspersky shows your system is screwed up.

You will have either to force uninstall Kaspersky and see if that cures the problem or if you can’t or you can but you still get blue screens then it will be simplest to back up your files and re-install windows.
It could be impossible to sort this problem out in any other way and in future make sure you always COMPLETELY remove any existing security software suite before installing a new one. It is sure fire way to wind up with a screwy system

  1. John says:

    1. Re-stall your computer operating system

    or

    2. Get a macbook, won’t ever get the bluescreen of death

  2. Albi says:

Back up your data, make recovery discs, replace your HDD, restore your computer, import your data. If it still blue screens, you can either go to geek squad and run a DIAG or toss it and buy a new one.

ok one things for sure you are doing something wrong

with in all this intsallation you are not doing one important thing
*fragmentation* the installation and un-installation of programs leaves a huuuugggee gap in the hard drive un allocated space witch means that if you never ran a defragmenter program EVer

you will get the blue screen of death

now sometimes the blue screen gives you a msg of whats causing the problem usually its a video card driver or something wrong with the program you are trying to run

in this case you didnt mention what error msg you got so i will take it that the anti virus program cause a glitch in your drivers causing a melt down in to whats what and where is my missing files

uninstall all anti virus programs unplug your self from the net cause you dont want to be an open target but you need to do heavy maintenance on your pc

best thing you can do is google and download defraggler use it
get CCleaner too it helps remove unwanted cache files and temp internet files and def helps with cleaning out bad registry files

    so lets recap
    BSoD

caused by fragmentation in the hard drive also could mean hard drive failure if not taken care of soon

uninstall all anti virus programs remove your lan cable so your no longer connected to the net
before unplugging from the net download Defraggler (by Priform)
use it could take hours depending on how many red blocks

once done restart your system plug back in the lan wire to your pc before the pc boots up
once in windows install the ONE anti virus program having multiple AV programs causes the system to lock up and crash and result in more files getting corrupted

if problem persists find a replacement hard drive to back up all files and start a new

and dont trust programs that say they fix things and want money to do so cause at the end all that happens is that important files get deleted and guess what you end up with more problems witch the program says it can fix if you spit more money into it

and as for the geek squad guy he should know better then to give bad advice
techs like that just make us real techs look bad geek squad is nothing but money hungry no knowledge techs who would steal and cheat you right in your face *thanks best buy*

i do hope this helps sorry to hear about the problem and for you taking facing bad answers
